French Knitted Fairy

Day 157 – French Knitted Fairy

I have been re-living my childhood using an old fashioned wooden French Knitting Spool and some multi-coloured wool!

I made a length of approximately two and a half metres and have arranged it, in one stroke, into today’s fairy.

Ombre Numbers Fairy

Day 114 – Ombre Numbers Fairy

Today’s flying friend is a special request from my nephew. He asked that I do “the outline of a fairy in numbers (not numbers in the middle of a fairy shape)”.

Hopefully I have done justice to his request. I drew the outline in pencil, used some rubber number stamps that I had and my rainbow coloured inks to add a bit more colour. I used all the numbers in the varying colours and aimed for an ombre effect.

Rubber Stamp Fairy

Day 76 – Rubber Stamp Fairy

Repeatedly using only a tiny fairy-shaped rubber stamp and one shade of ink, I created this silhouette of a fairy.

I deliberately used varying degrees of ink on the stamp to add to the effect, particularly on the wings.

Ombré Varnish Fairy

Day 15 – Ombré Varnish Fairy

I had an idea to use my varying shades of nail-varnish on acetate to see the effect and how the colours would blend together (if at all). After waiting for the nail-varnish to dry, I then drew the outline on the reverse of the acetate in my permanent marker to add a bit of definition.

I actually like how the flash of the camera focused on the wings and highlights the shimmer in the nail-varnish.
